A Muslim app blocker

Earn your scroll.

Your distracting apps rest until you earn time back through remembrance: dhikr, the Qur’an and short Islamic lessons. Then you spend those minutes on apps, on purpose.

For iPhone and Android. Free to start, no account.

An open Qur’an on a carved wooden stand, lit by a lantern at night.

أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ

“Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
Ar-Raʿd · 13:28

How it works

Earn. Spend. Rest.

Mizan puts a scale between you and the feed. On one side, time with Allah. On the other, time on your apps. You decide how they balance.

Earn

Say 33 SubhanAllah, read or listen to the Qur’an, finish your morning adhkar or a three-minute lesson. Every minute of deen adds to your balance.

Spend

Open a resting app and choose 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Your balance counts down while you use it, and nothing more is taken.

Rest

When the time is up, the app rests again. At each prayer and through the night, every resting app pauses, whatever your balance.

What earns time

Minutes of deen, before your rate is applied.

  • 33 × SubhanAllah, at a natural pace1 min
  • Reading the Qur’an, per minute1 min
  • Listening to a recitation, per minute½ min
  • Morning or evening adhkar, full set3 min
  • A lesson, passed3 min

Your rate

Choose how much screen time one minute of deen buys. Four rates, from generous to minute for minute.

1:10Gentle
1:5Balanced
1:2Strict
1:1Minute for minute

At 1:1, one minute of dhikr is one minute of apps. Ten minutes with the Qur’an buys ten minutes of scrolling. At 1:5, the same ten minutes buy fifty.

Inside Mizan

Everything you need to put Allah first

A Qur’an reader, a dhikr counter, adhkar, duas and lessons, built around one gentle rule: remembrance before the feed.

A mosque silhouetted against a golden dusk sky.

Salah pause

When the adhan comes, your apps rest.

Mizan calculates prayer times on your phone and pauses every resting app at each salah. Open one during prayer time and you meet a calm “pray first” screen instead of the feed.

  • Pray first. Tap “I’ve prayed” to end the pause early, or let it lift on its own.
  • Pause for a window you choose, or stay paused until you mark the prayer as prayed.
  • Turn each of the five prayers on or off, and mark an excused day.
  • Five calculation methods, a Qibla compass, and your balance kept safe while you pray.

Qur’an

Read and listen, ayah by ayah.

The whole mushaf with translation, and recitation that follows along: the ayah being recited is highlighted as you listen, so your eyes and ears stay together.

  • Four renowned reciters, every one free to stream.
  • Keeps playing in the background, with speed, repeat and a sleep timer.
  • Pick up where you left off and track your khatm.
  • Download whole surahs to listen offline. Premium

Dhikr

Count your tasbih, even from the Home Screen.

A counter that feels like beads under your thumb: soft haptics on every count and a ring that fills to 33. Each unhurried set adds a minute of deen to your balance.

  • SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar and more.
  • Home Screen widgets for your balance and your count.
  • Rushed sets don’t earn: dhikr is for the heart, not the thumb.

Adhkar & duas

Morning, evening, and every moment between.

The morning and evening adhkar in Arabic with meaning and source. Duas for daily life are there too. They are between you and Allah, so they never earn minutes.

Streaks

Your day begins at Fajr.

Reach your daily deen goal to keep your streak. Days run from Fajr to Fajr, not midnight to midnight.

A crescent moon over dark desert dunes.

Night rest

Sleep, not scroll.

From 22:00 to 07:00, resting apps stay closed so the night stays for rest and tahajjud.

A golden hourglass glowing in the dark.

Time’s up

Endings that stick.

When your minutes run out, the app closes gently, and your next minutes are one dhikr away.

Built for weak moments

Hard to loosen on impulse.

Tightening a rule applies at once. Loosening one waits, so the decision is made by you, not by the urge.

  • 10 minWeakening your rate, removing a resting app or turning off salah pause waits ten minutes, and you can cancel.
  • 1 / dayOne emergency unlock a day: five free minutes that don’t touch your balance, after a moment to breathe.
  • StrictStrict mode hides the emergency unlock entirely.

Questions

Asked and answered

Why does Mizan need Screen Time access on iPhone?

Apple only lets apps rest other apps through its Screen Time framework. When you pick apps, iOS gives Mizan opaque tokens: Mizan can ask iOS to shield them, but it cannot read their names or see what you do in them. Nothing about your usage leaves your phone.

What does the accessibility permission do on Android?

Android has no Screen Time equivalent, so Mizan uses an accessibility service to notice which app comes to the front. It reads only that app’s package name (for example com.instagram.android) to check whether it is resting. It does not read the screen, your messages or what you type, and nothing is sent anywhere. You can turn it off at any time in Android settings.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Blocking, prayer times, dhikr, adhkar, duas, lessons and the Qur’an text all work without a connection. Recitations stream over the internet, unless you have downloaded the surah with Premium.

Which reciters are included?

Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary, Mohamed Siddiq al-Minshawi and Abdul Basit Abdul Samad (murattal). All four are free to stream for everyone. See the audio credits.

Is the content reviewed by scholars?

Every hadith, dua and lesson cites its source, and all of it is being reviewed by qualified scholars before launch. Mizan is an aid to worship and good habits. It does not give fatwas.

What if I genuinely need an app right now?

You have one emergency unlock a day: five minutes, free, without touching your balance. If you turn on strict mode, it disappears.

How do I cancel Premium?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the free trial if you don’t want to be charged.

When can I download Mizan?

Mizan is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play, in English, French and Arabic.
